Sports-Car Pileup vs Auto Transport

On a trip from Japan’s southern island of Kyushu to Hiroshima sports cars worth $4 million dollars turned into a pileup when a Ferrari leading the pack of exotic cars skidded as it tried to change lanes. After all of the smoke cleared there were eight Ferraris and one Lamborghini in a 20-vehicle group. The cars were driven by amateur sports car aficionados and were deemed “narcissists” by officials. They should have used N-Motion Auto Transport to move vehicles from point A to B. A car hauler would have saved them far more money and even possibly their lives. Only ten people had minor injuries and most of them have already been cleared from the hospital. The accident happened along a 400 meter-long curve Sunday morning. Even though an investigation is still going on based on the initial interviews and the type of damage that was done the police do not believe that the accident was based on “burning rubber” like in the street racing movies “Fast and the Furious”. The cause of the accident may be because of wet road conditions causing the driver to crash into the guardrail. Along with the nine sports cars that were damaged, two Mercedes Benz were also in the pile up. If you need your car moved, call N-Motion Auto Transport today and we will take care of all of your exotic car transport needs.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder letter against building of Bridge

To argue that Gov. Rick Snyder should have a fall-back position to resourcefully make use of Canadian bridge money to serve as matching funds for federal highway funds is ridiculous because by having a fall back position he is then admitting to defeat. Owning private toll roads and bridges were common in the middle ages but now the public should own them since they utilize it the most. The owner of the Ambassador Bridge, Matty Maroun wants to make choices for the citizens of Michigan instead of having the government do so. Auto Transportion might be affected in multiple ways, both positive and negative. Snowbird vehicle transport would be at a standstill due to inflated prices. They would then delay the car shipping process to a later time, thus creating a jam in overall traffic. The political commentator for Michigan public radio, Jack Lessenberry doesn’t think that the bridge project will cost Michigan citizens anything. By bringing in half a billion dollars from Canada, creating 10,000 jobs, and attracting another half a billion dollars in federal highway money would fix the problem. However, the state Legislature opposed this and Gov. Snyder should hold them responsible. Any legislator who has gotten campaign contributions from the owner of the Ambassador Bridge should refrain from voting on this issue because it is a conflict of interest.

Snyder considering allowing counties to charge vehicle registration fees to raise money for roads

Gongwer News Service said that Gov. Rick Snyder's vehicle transportation plan is allowing counties and regions to charge auto registration fees as a way to raise money for roads and public transit. On Wednesday, Governor Snyder is supposed to talk about his infrastructure plan as well as talk about the daring changes on how the state funds and maintains its road network and public transit. Some people in Snyder’s group are saying that Michigan isn’t investing enough in its roads. Keith Ledbetter the legislative affairs director for the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association agrees and thinks that the state needs to double its $1.5 billion annual investment in order to provide the minimum level of maintenance. The plan would let counties or groups of counties to ask voters to support registration fees. It is projected to increase revenue without increasing the state's 19 cents per gallon gasoline tax or basing a tax on mileage. The vehicle registration fees are based on a percentage of the manufacturer's suggested retail price and vehicles produced prior to 1984 are based on weight. However, the problem with a gas tax is that revenue will decrease as cars become more fuel efficient. Car carriers would benefit because they would have better roads to drive on and less traffic to deal with in certain areas, thus reducing the time it takes to deliver a vehicle. In Virginia, GOP double talk on transportation funding

Any major attempt to improve the car transportation network involves new funding and this has been addressed by many GOP candidates. One idea is for the state to get new income for transportation from offshore oil and gas drilling. However there are quite a few problems with this idea. First problem is the federal suspension on offshore drilling on the Atlantic seaboard. Another is that almost no exploration has been done in the area in 20 years. Even if Virginia tried this idea it would be at least five years before they saw any money from it. Another idea to come up with money is for Virginia to find money for transportation is to “reprioritizing” state spending. Some Republicans are saying that if the state won’t help that northern Virginia is going to have to figure out its transportation problem on its own. The plan is that northern Virginia will have to tax itself. The good thing is that the need for new taxes is known. This, however, would kind of shift the political risk for raising taxes from lawmakers in Richmond to local boards of supervisors. The major funding for transportation is gas taxes and the last time they were raised was in 1986. Auto carriers would be would then have to increase the cost of each item transported in order to compensate for the extra costs incurred. Where's the plan to repair N.Y.'s roads and bridges?

There could be major accidents in New York because the state is spending less money to fix its highways and bridges. This possibility might be seen because of the analysis that was seen in the records of the state Department of Transportation. A plan to fix these bridges needs to be decided by Governor Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers. Car haulers would then be able to maneuver easily through the crowded cities. This would make auto shipping a more efficient means of open vehicle transportation than it already is. A five-year DOT plan that would have spent $26 billion for repairs was rejected by the 2009 Democratic- controlled state Legislature. About 80 percent of that money has been spent, and the state needs $250 billion in order to maintain its transportation and water systems. About $80 billion of that amount is unfunded. Sen. Chuck Schumer thinks that a National Infrastructure Bank to help states fund road and bridge projects should be created. However, the problem is that state and federal governments are financially stretched but if local governments were required to help with maintenance cost it could fix the problem. This is a good time for Cuomo and the state Legislature to come up with a solution to make the bridges and roads of New York stronger.

California Turns To China for New Bay Bridge

Over $7 billion is going to California’s, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge which is going to be their newest bridge. The bridge is going to have a distinctive design to the Golden Gate Bridge. Bart Ney, a spokesman for the project said that it is going to be the world’s largest self-anchored suspension bridge. A classic suspension bridge is held up by cables strung between two towers much like a hammock. However, this bridge features a single tower and a single mile-long cable that drapes up and over the tower and supports the deck like a sling. New bridges only increse the car haulers ability to move quicker to locations. About five years ago is when the decision for the Bay Bridge started because a contractor offered different bids for the project. One proposing to do work domestically, one proposing to do the work internationally: Tony Anziano, a manager at the California Department of Transportation said that there was a $400 million differential in the bid and because of that it would have cause the work to go international. Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries which is a state-owned Chinese company took the steal contract job and they had many advantages such as modern production facilities, ships to deliver the steel and, of course, low-cost labor. The reason they didn’t go with an American steel company is because the steel doesn’t have capacity for a job like the Bay Bridge.

Highway funding in Maine is more worrisome than its pothole ridden roads

The roads in Maine are so bad that there is now a contest to see which road is the worst. The winners based on photos and stories on collapsed bridges, failed culverts and gaping potholes this is set up by the Maine Better Transportation Association. Vehicle transporters are trying to reroute themselves as to not get into the mess. This might cause a slight delay in pickup or delivery times of clients interested in car shipping. Not only are upset drivers and highway maintenance crews complaining about the roads but so are legislators. Lawmakers and highway maintenance advocates are saying that the state is going to end up facing extreme decrease in transportation funding. Also, there is a decrease in revenue base from fuel tax which is being battered as cars are becoming progressively more proficient and need less fuel. The MBTA President Randy Mace said that improvements to Maine’s highways and bridges will be $230 million less then its current two year finances. The Road Information Program, a transportation organization based in Washington said that at recent funding levels, numerous desired highway projects will not go on, pavement conditions on main roads will get worse and more miles of Maine will be limited to lighter cars. Since there is a loss in fuel tax the money is going to have to be made up somehow which is going to be difficult because highways are getting less money from federal government and state general funds.

SC: Economist tells state lawmakers its good time to raise gas tax

According to an economist at Clemson University, they believe that the unpredictable gas prices could create a chance to raise the state’s fuel tax. The possibility of increasing the gas tax, during this time of “opportunities” facing lawmakers for tax reform was brought up by Holly Ulbrich, an economist and senior scholar with Clemson’s Strom Thurmond Institute. She believes that the gas tax is among a small group of taxes that is not indexed to inflation. Also, she has argued that even if it were coming from tax, people wouldn’t notice. Rep. Tommy Stringer, a Greenville Republican chairing the committee, disagrees and thinks that they would notice. He also believes that you can always tell where we are in the economy based on gas prices; if the gas prices rise you can than tell we are in a recession and by raising taxes on transportation at this point wouldn’t be good. Auto carriers would then have to raise vehicle shipping rates in order to compensate them for the increase in fuel prices. Robert St. Onge, the transportation secretary, thinks that agency leaders are going to have to choose between cutting expenses for a poorly maintained road system or find additional revenue.

I-85 toll project to add to traffic jams in regular lanes

On I-85 in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties, a new toll system will be opening next week making the drive for solo drivers a quick one. However, for other drivers next to the toll system they won’t have as pleasant of a ride because there will be an increase in traffic due to the project. A study has shown that the regular lanes will have an extra ninety cars per lane but the study also said that most drivers won’t even notice a difference. This will cause a delay in auto transport and the shipment of vehicles within the state. The State Road and Tollway Authority expect the cost of the toll to be about $4.8 million but after the first year it is expected to bring in $3.9 million in toll revenue. The toll is going to range from 10 cents to 90 cents per mile depending on congestion. However, drivers going round trip can expect to pay over twenty- five dollars. Many people, including Tim Lomax, believe that even though this might create a slow down to the main lane drivers, it will only cause a delay that is couple minutes longer but it won’t create a noticeable delay. N-Motion Auto Transport is aware of this situation and will continue to monitor current news in order to keep car shipping as efficient and timely as possible.

Branstad may move some DOT duties to state patrol

In Iowa, the Branstad administration wants to combine the Iowa Department of Transportation’s motor-vehicle enforcement duties with the Department of Public Safety so it will become more efficient and cost effective. This would cause and increase in DOT law officers. Spokesman for Gov. Terry Branstad, Tim Albrecht said that Public Safety Commissioner Larry Noble and DOT Director Paul Trombino III have talked about combining the so-called DOT “blue coat” motor vehicle enforcement responsibilities within the DPS. He also said by doing this it will be saving both general funds and road use tax fund dollars, thus making it cheaper for auto carriers to move cars. Even though the governor knows about these discussions there is no plan to move forward yet. The governor has encouraged all of the state department directors to look for other opportunities that would more closely integrate the service delivery. Sen. Eugene Fraise does not agree with the merger because he believes that it would distract the DOT officers from their core enforcement duties. He is also wondering if it will be able to move forward without having the “go ahead” form the legislature. Fraise said that instead of spending a whole day in court testifying they could be on the road working.

Auto insurance changes debated in Michigan

The only state in the United States that authorizes unlimited medical benefit treatment for people critically injured in car accidents is Michigan. Under proposals, this would vary because it allows motorists to have a less expensive insurance in exchange for limited personal injury protection coverage. Those who support the change, as well as the auto insurance agencies, believe that it will allow motorists to get rid of auto insurance that is more expensive and that don’t really want. The insurers want help with there system because it is becoming more and more expensive which is hurting there finances. Sen. Joe Hune believes that because the cost of the system is so high it is going to become weak and won’t be able to maintain. People in the proposed legislation believe that the state's no-fault auto insurance system might threaten the financial stability because motorists with less coverage will end up getting in financial trouble if they get in a serious car accident. Pete Kuhnmuench, the executive director of the Insurance Institute of Michigan thinks that the consumers in Michigan shouldn’t focus on an insurance system that is just a one quick fix for everything.

Missouri Begins Fixing Flood-Damaged Roads

In northwest Missouri, the repairing of flood-damaged roads has started. However, transportation officials have said that many of the major highways are still under water and Interstate 29 is going to remain closed for awhile. On Tuesday the Missouri Department of Transportation said that work is being done on both U.S. 136 in Atchison County and U.S. 59 in Buchanan County. The department spokeswoman Melissa Black made the comment that since the flood this was the first time that they have been able to make some progress. Even though there is process being made there are still eighteen main roads that are still covered with water and because the interstate bridge in Iowa is still damaged Interstate 29 is going to continue to be closed as well. October 15th is when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers believes that Highway 59 is expected to be open but they are not sure how long the construction will take. Even though US 59 has 40-foot holes in sections of the highway, construction shouldn’t take longer than a couple weeks. On the other hand U.S. 136 has an estimated 500-foot gap in it and it is undetermined how long it will take to repair. This flood damage to the highways is going to make it difficult for car haulers.

Sportsmen urge Colorado lawmakers to reject bill to override Colorado Roadless Rule

By opposing the federal wilderness bill, many people think that it will end up undoing six years of work that was done on the Colorado Roadless Rule. The 2001 Clinton Roadless Rule, which got tossed out by the Bush administration, would be similar to the Colorado Roadless Rule formed by former Republican Colorado Gov. Bill Owens except it would have moreroad-building exemptions for logging, ski area development and natural gas drilling. Later Bush’s Interior Department permitted states to petition for their own rules for governing management of federal lands within their borders. Colorado and Idaho were the only two states that went that route. Years of stakeholder involvement are going to be wasted if this is passed because the Wilderness and Roadless Area Release Act could eliminate the Colorado Roadless Rule. Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette is opposing the Colorado Roadless Rule because she believes that it lets numerous exemptions for road building and its future development. Also the EPA is uncertain about the Colorado Rule because they didn’t agree with the draft that was put together last spring. Both in Colorado and nationally the legislation is trying to remove years of stakeholder involvement because it would reduce Colorado’s rural economies, along with its outdoor way of life.

Covered bridges in Vermont take a hit from Irene

On Sunday, Hurricane Irene ruined many of Vermont’s most famous wooden bridges. The bridges were either covered by debris, had a fallen tree on it, or were barely intact. Most of these bridges have been there for over a hundred years. Vermont has around a hundred covered bridges and these bridges are an important part of there heritage. Information is still trying to be collected about the bridges and roadways but they for sure know that thirty of the bridges are shut down and that there is no access to ten of the towns. Senate President Pro Tempore John Campbell said that many people were crying over the destruction over the bridge in Quechee because it is such a large part of the town it is almost like a gazebo to them. The top of the bridge was able to withstand the hurricane but the majority of the base is gone. Luckily the Quechee Bridge may be repairable. Having to replace a bridge is difficult because not everyone is qualified to do that but it is the next best option for them since these bridges are so important to there community. David Wright, the president of the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges, said that Vermont has done a good job maintaining the covered bridges and are seen as a major part of there landscape.

3,000 state workers reopened N.J. roadways

On Sunday four state agencies got together and cleaned up New Jersey’s roadways so it could be reopened. Work crews from the State Department of Transportation are having to work all day to clean up the obstacles in the road that were caused from high winds and rain. DOT, NJTRANSIT, the Turnpike Authority and South Jersey Transportation Authority have sent about 3,000 workers to clean up the road ways and form detours from floodwaters. Because the storm damage was so bad people are being asked to stay off the roadways so work crews will be able to clean up faster. Hundreds of floods conditions occurred because of the state average rainfall of seven inches. This was mainly along the flood prone rivers such as the Raritan, Rockaway, Saddle and Passaic. Over 300 roadway complaints of debris and flooding have been reported to DOT and the people are being asked to visit www.511nj.org. www.511nj.org is a website designed to give up to date information on the roadways and it also provides a map of areas that are still flooded or have debris. There is still a major safety issue because the water levels in the rivers have not gone down yet. The southbound lanes on the Garden State Parkway are opened with some detours between exits 98 and 91 and the eastbound lanes on the Atlantic City Expressway will be reopened by Sunday afternoon allowing car haulers to do there job.

DelDOT delays US 301 meeting

Hurricane Irene has caused state transportation planners to hold off on toll road plans that were planned for Wednesday. By the middle of 2012, officials hope to be working on the $747 million highway that is between west of Middletown, the Roth and Summit bridges. Last year the state lawmakers told the agency that they could start working in phases on the project. For awhile now, attempts to build the road have gone up and down. Originally, the focus was on safer conditions, reduced traffic congestion and pressure to separate local traffic from longer-distance travelers such as transporters. In more recent years, the main focus is on the support of economic development and to reduce congestion-related air pollution. Some businesses and people are supporting this project and have grown interested on seeing how it will turn out, but others don’t agree with it. Some property for the roadway has already been bought by DelDOT, but there are still 110 properties that still need to be bought. In the beginning, purchases started off with the state and buying part of an elementary school, later being turned into 236 acres of property. To complete the land purchases, the state sold $125 million in bonds along with future federal transportation subsidies. Last year, land purchases got put on hold because of controversies. A new date for the meeting has not been set yet by the state officials, but there have been a few sessions that have been scheduled at Middletown Fire Hall.

Curbing Fleet Fuel Costs

For companies that rely on fleet vehicles, one of the most difficult aspects in fleet management is having to control fuel costs. Even though having to watch fuel costs is a boring job, it is something that has to be done in order to have a beneficial business. Technology has come a long way and luckily now, there are solutions being provided to make things simpler. Another tool that is going to help trucking companies is the use of fuel cards. They have been around over twenty five years and were originally met to make the purchase of fuel for companies easier and faster. However, they also give helpful data on fuel grade purchases, cost per gallon, odometer reading and driver/PIN/vehicle number. The down side about using these fuel cards is that the process can still difficult. The good news is that by uniting the fuel card and the GPS this will create an easy read system and will be able to manage fuel costs which will make transportation easier. This system allows you to be able to get exact information on the fueling for the fleet overall, along with the individual fuel usage of a specific vehicle. It also lets you know if any fuel is being wasted, which is going to be good for the auto transporters who have to make long trips. By getting these fuel cards for your company, you will end up realizing you are saving money, which will help your business become more profitable.

Challenges Ahead for Indiana, Says Panel

Unlike the states bordering Indiana, Indiana has created a large infrastructure. However, in the long run it could end up having problems. This is just one idea of the infrastructure in Indiana. State Rep. Ed Soliday is the person in charge of directing the board on observing this issue and they testified on Tuesday to a General Assembly committee regarding the matter. Gov. Mitch Daniels has spent the majority of the $3.8 billion that was leased to the Indiana Toll Road in 2006 on road construction for his Major Moves program. The money used for the Toll Road has definitely been a positive for Indiana. Almost every bridge and state road has received an excellent review, there has been a decrease in congestion and the safety is better. This increases the auto transport market due to easier access to more roads. Auto carriers can now maneuver through routes with ease and in a timely manner. The State Transportation Commissioner Michael Cline said that because the economy is weak the cost of construction has been reduced. By 2014, the vice president of the economic development at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce believes that all of the Major Moves money will end up being spent. This is going to put Indiana in a difficult position because the outlook for federal transportation dollars to increase is going to be slim. Soliday never used tax increases or user fees to pay for the infrastructure development but thinks that by not doing anything it is ridiculous.

Hard Times for Drivers as DOT Playing with Road Money

Hard times are ahead for the drivers who have driven on a state road system that has been underfunded and unmaintained because of the state and nation dealing with a decrease in revenues and costs rising. A process was supposed to be established by the Legislatures overhaul of the state department of transportation that was mandatory for all projects to be ranked to decide the projects to be funded. However, this process isn’t used all of the time. According to the chairman of the senate transportation committee several people who are unhappy with the transport rankings ignore them which are not okay to do. If no alterations are made in the funding process on how the state uses its road money things will become critical. Proposals adopted by Congress could cause federal aid to be cut by $200 million next year. The transportation Secretary said there are two decades of road work that needs to be done which would end up costing billions. The agency’s buying ability isn’t as good as it used to be because of inflation. $344 million is being borrowed to work on multiple projects but the I-75 project is being disproved of because people think it is not need. Many states have come up with there own different funding ideas because they can’t rely on federal funding.

Infiniti Taking over Audi-Lexus in China

The Chinese Luxury - Auto market is working hard to account for the time lost to Volkswagen AG’s Audi and Toyota Motor Corp. (7203)’s Lexus; and Nissan in planning on quadrupling Infiniti’s share in this market. By 2016, Carlos Ghosn the Chief Executive Officer, plans on captivating at least eight percent of luxury segment in the world’s largest auto market. Doubling the number of Infiniti dealers, adding five product lines over five years, and airing its first TV commercials in a nation where primetime audiences can exceed 500 million are all part of Nissans plan to improve sales. By March 2017, Nissan aims to better Infiniti sales to 500,000 a year. Infiniti’s China doubled last year’s sales from the year before. Bill Russo, the senior adviser at Booz & Co. in Beijing thinks that the real challenge for Infiniti is getting on the consideration list for luxury-auto shoppers in China. Compared to other auto makers such as Lexus or Audi, Infiniti has gotten a late start in terms of entering the market. According to Klaus Paur, a Shanghai-based managing director for Greater China at Synovate Motoresearch believes that Infiniti’s success may depend on manufacturing vehicles in China. Speedy Siberian Shipments

Delivery times for high-value auto parts and electronics from East Asia to Europe are going to arrive 30 days sooner because Russia’s largest privately owned train company is tapping the world’s longest rail network. Four carriers a day are running from the Vostochny port in order to transport goods for customers from Japan, China and Korea. Also, they transport goods for one of South Korea’s biggest car companies, Hyundai Motor Co. By using the 6,000 mile Trans- Siberian railway, N-Trans plans to steal time-sensitive and high-value shipments away from maritime routes. An analyst at Maritime Strategies International Ltd stated that the volumes that can be hauled by train are much lower than on the smallest container ships. He also believes that one of the drivers for the Trans-Siberian venture is a solution to the congestion in St. Petersburg and the Russian ports. Hyundai is one of the customers that ships parts to a Russian factory, which has caused them to amplify their output. The Vostochny port has direct access to the Trans-Siberian railway and 85 percent of cargo is being moved by train. The overland route is a way for returning empty containers from Europe to East Asia.

Slight Improvement in FTR Conditions Index

In June, -3.1 became the current reading for the FTR Associates’ Shippers Condition Index. The SCI summed up the market influences that affect freight and auto shippers. In order to have a positive shipping atmosphere, the reading must be above zero and anything under zero is insufficient. Even though this index is below zero, its condition is improving because in March, the index was at -11.4. This “low” slowed down the shippers in economic and freight growth in late spring and early summer causing a slowing in the rise of rates; causing an ease in the strain in capacity. The downside to the situation is that the SCI has decreased each month when it comes to there rate of improvement. Sadly, the FTR is predicting the index to fall again which will end up impacting the shippers in a bad way. Larry Gross, the senior consultant for FTR, thinks it may be counterintuitive by saying that rate increases are going to improve. The trucking companies have had solid rate increases, even while the GDP growth has been down, shows that freight demand and capacity are good. The FTR is expecting an increase and they are still going to be watching for a decrease in the upcoming months.

California Cleaning up their Trucks

Anti-Pollution regulations in California have been looking for a way to clean its air. The soot in the diesel exhaust has been one of the focal points in recent years. The tail pipes in many trucks, off-road equipment, and buses have been throttled with refined filters that strip out particulates. Trucks made before 2007 must have retrofits and the devices needed for periodic servicing. Newer trucks made in 2007 or later are standard and have diesel particulate filters. Ironman Parts & Service is one of the independent companies that are doing this type of work. In the last six years, they have done 10,000 retrofits. The owner, Craig Phillips, specializes in this line of work and has added this ongoing engine rebuilding and maintenance operations to his company. Cleaire, Donaldson, and Johnson-Matthey for on-road trucks, plus another line for off-road equipment are all products that are handled by Ironman. Waste vehicles and publicly owned vehicles were the first items focused on by the California Air Resources Board. Diesel-powered commercial vehicles over 26,000 pounds GVWR must comply within the next three years. Vehicles between the model-years of ’96 and ’06 are where the majority of the work is being done. Trucks that are privately owned are exempt but commercial trucks made 94’ and earlier have been banned by the state. This benefits the auto shipping industry because carriers will now be more efficient and reliable. Vehicle transport customers, in return, get a reduced price and a better time frame for which their vehicle will get delivered. A large part of Phillip’s business has been based on the cleanup. An installation per truck takes 8-20 hours and can cost anywhere from $7,500 to $15,000 depending on the engine and type of DPF. A healthy engine is needed in order to have a successful installation, but in many cases they are not because they have been uncared for.

The Obama Admin Announces Medium & Heavy Truck Fuel Economy Standards

Obamas program is said to make trucks, buses, and other large vehicles more fuel-efficient and save these companies roughly $50 billion in gas over the programs life span. Many people’s reactions to the program’s proposal were/are positive ones. From 2014 to 2018, oil consumption will be a projected reduction of 530 million barrels. This will immediately impact the reduction of greenhouse gases as well, by about 270 million metric tons. Obama was given the idea by the hard working engine manufactures and drivers of these large trucks. The question was brought up: “If we are focusing so hard to improve the efficiency of everyday driver vehicles, why shouldn’t the larger trucks that actually move around the US everyday have a fuel-efficiency program.” These trucks are a major part of the ozone depletion and need just as many regulations, if not more, than passenger vehicles. This program, in no way, is negative because it adds an additional cost of about $6,000 to the purchase of these vehicles while in return saves about $73,000 a year in fuel costs. This will also make it even more efficient for vehicle shipping and car haulers . ATA CEO Bill Graves proposed, in addition to this program, that vehicles be limited to a speed of 65 mph and that trucks be governed at that speed.

Japan's Fuel Rates Increase while Profit Declines

Two of Japans largest shipping lines have lowered their annual profit estimates due to falling rates and rising fuel costs. Fuel costs have climbed along with higher crude prices, while the rates for leasing out commodity ships have fallen 34 percent in a year. Container shipping is going to end up being the biggest struggle and dry- bulk shipping does not look like it is going to get any better either. Japan’s other shipping line has also lowered its operating estimates. These three shipping lines have greatly suffered in the demand for car shipping because of the earthquake that occurred in March. In April, vehicle transports dropped 68 percent, which is the biggest drop since 1973. Even though this drop hurt them in the first quarter, it will end up being their highest profit source for the rest of the year. This year, the three shipping lines have fallen more than 20 percent. As the Asia-U.S. and Asia- Europe routes expand and demands decrease, it has caused container shipping rates to fall. However, the global fleet of dry- bulk carriers will end up rising thirteen percent this year with an overtake of traffic by four percent.

Auto Shipping Companies Affected by Fuel Prices

Throughout the nation, car shipping companies are having a difficult time staying in business and are having to raise prices due to the bad economy and high gas prices. The increase on gas prices has also affected the cost of goods around the world because of the influx in oil prices. This increase has affected the auto shipping rates , making it difficult for consumers to afford these kinds of services. Smaller companies have to increase their prices because they are going to be more affected than larger companies. Many companies will price their bids months before shipping and will end up losing money on their deals because gas prices go up between the scheduled dates. However, these auto shipping companies will have low bids in order to get the job, but they have learned that there profit margin will end up decreasing even further. N-Motion Auto Transport will get you a fast and free quote to save you time and money. We ensure that you will be getting the best deal on all of your car shipping needs.

Control Auto Shipping Rates With IntelliRoute

Transport firms and drivers in the business of great auto transport reviews implementing Rand McNally's IntelliRoute to help deliver cars on time and budget will be interested in the latest addition to this transport tool. Rand McNally has introduced two new transport-specific GPS units to the features of IntelliRoute incorporating some of the ideas the transport industry and auto transport drivers using this tool have requested. Called the 5-inch IntelliRoute TND 510 and the larger, high-definition 7-inch IntelliRoute TND 710, these two virtual dashboards allow drivers to quickly view sunrise or sunset, determine speed and altitude and other essential data.

Rand McNally indicates that the IntelliRoute TND 510 and 710 allow drivers to also calculate the time to destination using the available data on traffic ahead and even find alternate routes to destination when required. Drivers can pinpoint exactly where they're along an interstate using mile markers and these units provide users with more information on the location of transport-specific points of interest along your route, like truck washes, towing and maintenance services, and even specific information to help car carriers taking vehicles to destination in Canada.

Transport drivers and firms that want to check out Rand McNally's new additions to IntelliRoute should contact the company directly for more information, or stop by a local dealer of Rand McNally products to see what they have on hand. This could be another way for you to enhance the transport services you provide and save more money and time during the miles ahead.
